Credit: EE 290n is a 3 unit course.

Prerequisite: Graduate standing.

Instructor: The instructor will be Professor Edward A. Lee. Office hours Tu, Th 1-2pm and by appointment.

Class Meetings: Tuesday and Thursday, 2-3:30, in 299 Cory.

Study Groups : One hour per week, to be scheduled .

Required Text: B. A. Davey and H. A. Priestley, Introduction to Lattices and Order, Cambridge University Press, second edition, 2002. This book provides a concise and reasonably complete coverage of the background mathematics.

Other Materials: Relevant literature will be made available on the web whenever possible, and copies of essential papers will be distributed when web-based distribution is not possible. However, you are expected to make extensive use of supplementary references.

Requirements:

  • The course requires project with a final paper and presentation.
  • Critical review of peer's project papers.
  • Occasional homework assignments.
  • Active participation in a weekly study group for reading papers.
