Bio:  Alberto Ferrari received the Dr.Eng. degree summa cum laude in Electrical Engineering at the University of Bologna, Italy, in 1991. In 1992, he had been a junior researcher at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Systems. From 1993 to 1994, he had been a system engineer for the software company PROLOGIC (Modena, Italy) focusing on object oriented programming and software for real time control. In 1994, he joined the University of Bologna to pursue the PhD degree on integrated systems for image and speech recognition. This research activity focuses on design methodologies for hardware/software fast prototyping of digital systems and low power low voltage system architecture of digital signal processors. From 1995 to 1996, he had been a visiting scholar at the Electrical Engineering Department of University of California at Berkeley, where he worked in the research group headed by Prof. Alberto Sangiovanni-Vincentelli on design methodologies for embedded systems. In November 1996, he was with the SGS-Thomson Berkeley Labs. In 1997, he joined the PARADES research laboratory in Rome, Italy, working on design methodology, hardware software architecture for embedded system and heterogeneous simulation environment.
