VLIW Architectures for MultimediaWayne Wolf AbstractWe are now entering an era in which we can build single-chip processors with significant amounts of on-board memory. Multimedia is one important application for this technology. This talk will open with a discussion of modern multimedia applications. We will then describe joint work with Jason Fritts that analyzed the characteristics of multimedia applications and the effectiveness of various architectural alternatives for multimedia.Slides |
