Ingo Wegener


Ingo Wegener was born on December 4, 1950, at Bremen (Germany). He studied Mathematics at the Univ. Bielefeld and obtained his diploma (Master's degree) in 1976, his Ph. D. in 1978 and his Habilitation in 1981. He was an associate professor at the Computer Science Department of the Univ. Frankfurt from 1980 - 1987. Since then he is a full professor at the Computer Science Department of the Univ. Dortmund. Moreover, he had offers for a full professorship at Wuerzburg and Koblenz. He is the chairman of the elected referees for computer science of the DFG (comparable to NSF) and of the youth competition in computer science in Germany. His research interests include complexity theory, efficient algorithms, data structures, representation of Boolean functions, learning theory, and the theory of evolutionary and genetic algorithms.
